- Pay Per Click Advertising... Maybe today's most popular form of internet advertising options. The basics is that you purchase a campaign from the ad provider in the form of an online banner or text ad. When a visitor clicks on that ad and is taken to the advertiser's website or landing page, the advertiser pays a pre-set fee for each click. Usually an advertiser sets a daily, weekly or monthly limit on how many clicks they willing to pay for, so that a budget can be set and won't be exceeded. Depending on niche and ad source, this form of advertising can be quite effective.
- Ezine Advertising... Also quite popular in today's small home business marketing. Ezines are usually small, home made digital magazines published by other smart home business marketers in a particular niche. These ezine publishers sell advertising either within their ezines themeselves, or as a more expensive but much more effective method for the advertiser, in the form of solo ads. Solo ads are great because the ezine publisher sends out an email to his or her subscription list that ONLY contains YOUR ad. If the ezine focuses on your niche, this can be a highly effective form of advertising, usually at a reasonable price.
- Website Advertising... As another one of your internet advertising options, the process here is to simply look for popular websites within your niche and purchase advertising from them. Some websites may already have an ad buying system in place, but others you may have to contact the webmaster and ask if you can purchase an ad. I can just about guarantee that most webmasters will be more than HAPPY to sell you some ad space!
- Online Newspaper and Magazine Classifieds... Most of the larger city and national newspapers and magazines these days have online editions in addition to their newsstand copies, where you can purchase classified advertising. A couple of examples of these are USA Today and Entrepreneur Magazine. Many of these publications get thousands or even millions of readers, but you have to decide if your small home business marketing portfolio can afford to dole out a pretty good chunk of change for an ad in these publications. It could be well worth the price, but you have to decide if your product or service is likely to sell well enough to be worth the ad buy.

- Directory Submissions... This can be a fairly valuable small home business marketing option for a home based business opportunity website. There are a couple of reasons why. One is that a good directory will send more visitors to your website simply by clicking your link within that directory. But possibly even more important than that is that a good directory will give you an inbound link to your website, which tends to give you better natural rankings within the search engines. This in turn increases your free "organic" traffic to your website because the search engines like quality inbound links.
The "Big 2" of directories that everyone with a website would like to get into are the Yahoo Directory and DMOZ. The problem is, both are quite particular about who gets registered. If you have a bunch of money making links in your website, especially affiliate links, your chances of approval are highly diminished. Plus, the Yahoo Directory costs $299/year, and you are NOT guaranteed to get in, even after you pay. There are, however, a multitude of other (lesser stature) directories that you can apply to. Just do a search for website directory submissions, and you'll see plenty of options.
- Paid Search Engine Ad Submissions... This form of small home business marketing is basically PAYING an ad agency to give your website a decent search engine ranking, albeit artificially. This can be effective, but an ad agency cannot guarantee a particular ranking. For instance, if they say that they can promise you a top 2 or top 3 ranking, they probably are not a reputable agency because search engine rankings are not predictable to an absolute degree.
- Online Yellow Pages... Yep! Just like many larger newspapers and magazines have online editions, the yellow pages also is available online. There are several different companies who publish yellow pages directories. Just do an online search, and you will be given a list to choose from. This can be a tad pricey, but it's another option to consider for your small home business marketing campaign.
