Home Business Associations Offer a Good Starting Point....

====================================
Just like associations in other areas of business (like realty), home business associations are just one resource for the smart home business entrepreneur to study. These can have a large arsenal of information available to you. Just make sure that you're comfortable that their main focus is to have YOUR interests at heart.
Good associations should be watchdogs first, in my opinion, and not strictly trying to sell you on home based business listings. I like the attitude of the
AHBA.
Here's what they say right on their home page: "The AHBA does NOT sell businesses. We are a watchdog group that monitors home based businesses and then helps steer potential investors away from scams and risky investments." THAT'S music to my ears, in terms of thinking of the consumer first!
Another interesting association website is IAHBE.
This is a site that requires a monthly fee to join, but they appear to have a variety of resources. The couple of reviews that I have read from members were favorable. I think it might be at least worth a good look-see.
There are several other associations listed within the search engines also. It may be worth it as a smart home business entrepreneur to invest the time to see what each has to offer.
